Chris Potter

Managing Director

Chris is the owner and founder of Chris Potter Associates. He is a highly experienced construction professional with experience as a contractor and consultant quantity surveyor and project manager in the UK and Caribbean construction markets. 

Chris has experience as a Sub-Contractor, Main Contractor and Consultant Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager. His experience ranges from Airports, Offices, Historic Buildings to Residential, including Prime London, Data Centres and Schools. Chris has been an Expert Witness for a number of quantum related matters, advising the Construction Technology Court on a number of occasions.

Chris advises top tier UK and European Insurers in respect of Construction related claims for Delayed Start Up, Buildings and Works Damage. Traditionally trained, with 30 years’ experience from the ground up, Chris has a first principles approach and an acute attention to detail, offering a can-do attitude to problems, their solutions, and project goals at every stage of the construction process.

Kate Williams

Practice Manager

Kate joined Chris Potter Associates Ltd in 2017 where she manages all of the administrative and business operations aspects of the practice. Kate has an MA in European Business and a background in teaching Business and Economics at GCSE and A Level, so keeping the surveyors in line is a piece of cake!

Patrick Newton

MCIOB

Associate

Highly experienced construction professional with experience in both contracting and consultancy capacities. With over 20 years’ experience with a Tier 1 contractor, Patrick has extensive experience in major infrastructure projects, healthcare, residential and interior fit out and refurbishment within both the public and commercial sectors. 

Patrick is pragmatic, driven and highly focused in his approach which is testament to his successful track record of delivering complex projects and the successful settlement of insurance claims.

Patrick is based in our Devon office but covers a wide range of projects throughout the UK.

Ryan Holder

BSc (Hons) PGDip

Associate

A highly experienced construction professional, with advanced skills in traditional quantity surveying and project management. Ryan started his career with a Tier 1 contractor and progressed to professional consultancy, gaining experience in public and commercial sectors with projects covering healthcare and education, interior fit out and refurbishment, as well as residential, including the refurbishment of Prime London properties.

Ryan is proactive, highly organised and able to quickly adapt to circumstances in order to maintain good working relationships with clients and the construction team and maintain project momentum. He has a proven track record of delivering projects successfully, on time and on budget and has a can-do attitude in his approach.

Ryan is based in our Devon office but covers a wide range of projects throughout the UK.

Danny Bates

Danny is Chartered Quantity Surveyor with extensive experience of working with and supporting contractors during negotiation, assessment and agreement of construction contracts, variations and claims. He has comprehensive experience in both the private and public sectors, ranging from residential schemes to significant infrastructure projects.

Danny is a keen, hardworking and target-driven professional, adept at working on multiple technical and challenging projects at any one time, whilst consistently delivering high quality services to his clients.

As a registered APC assessor of candidates seeking to achieve accreditation to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Danny is committed to upholding the highest professional standards and supporting the next generation of surveyors through guidance, mentorship, and rigorous assessment.

James Halton

Highly experienced construction professional with over 20 years’ experience. James benefits from extensive technical knowledge and project management expertise gained through involvement in the full project lifestyle, from design and planning through to completion, and forwards into the building’s planned preventative maintenance life.

James is a specialist in defects’ diagnosis and reporting, including specification of repairs.

James is focussed, pragmatic and highly organised in his work, providing a consistently reliable and personable service to the client.

James is based in our Devon office but covers a wide range of projects throughout the UK.

Jake Burnage

Consultant Delay Analyst

Jake is highly skilled in the identification of delay causes and quantifying the extent of delay in complex projects and providing opinion on a variety of construction claims such as change/variation of scope, delay, prolongation, acceleration, and disruption.

10 years of experience in the field of planning and delay analysis, having worked on a diverse range of projects within the rail / highways / energy and construction industry.

Jake has a ‘can do’ and practical approach to his delay analysis and is able to explain complex and technical issues in a concise and intelligible manner.
